Footwear in the Philippines
I use three different kinds of footwear here in the Philippines:
- Athletic shoes Which I use for daily walking, but it is far too hot here to wear on any kind of regular basis.
- Formal shoes Which anywhere else would be called casual shoes. I use these exclusively to visit government offices. But only because they do not allow tsinelas. Again, far too hot here to wear on a regular basis. Although, I do use a very old pair of mesh OluKais, which are quite comfortable in this climate. And the government office guards seem happy enough with this choice.
- Flip flops Or, tsinelas. This is everyday wear in the Philippines. But these can be further divided between:
Daily flip flops For use around the barangay (village).
Good flip flops For going to town.
You can't make this stuff up.
